We would like to share several pictures of Jackson, a five-month-old Red Lacy. The pictures were submitted by Gabe Navar. From my limited reading I understand that Lacy Dogs come in a variety of colors, including red. All of them, however, are homozygous for the dilution gene dd. Read more about genetics of colors in Lacy Dogs
here. Lacy Dogs are a true working breed, and I salute all the breeders, clubs and associations that are determined to keep them this way. A big thank you to Gabe for the pictures.
Nice looking pictures of Jackson.
ReplyDeleteHee hee, sorry I just thought that second to the last photo was so funny, by the look on that pups face it is suprising he wasn't hanging with all 4s off the ground teeth on the leg of that deer! :) Never have heard of the breed may have to read more.

Thanks for posting pics of General Jackson. He is a Red Lacy Dog. Lacy Dogs come in Blue, Red and a Tri color. They are also known as Blue Lacy's. Lacy's are strong blood trackers and problem solvers. They were developed in the late 19th century to work hogs in the Texas Hill Country, the Lacy Dog excels at hunting, herding, tracking, treeing and more. They are driven and gritty, built for agility, speed and endurance. True representatives of the state's rugged heritage, the Blue Lacy is the State Dog of Texas. The best place to get information about the breed is at the National Lacy Dog Association. http://www.nationallacydog.org/
