Ten Bavarian Mountain Bloodhound puppies born by a C-section: pictorial report

Gary Huber is a passionate tracker and dog handler, who co-founded Deer Search of Western New York. He has been tracking for decades and it is hard to find anybody more dedicated to blood tracking with dogs and hunter education. He is also a member of the United Blood Trackers. These days he tracks with two dogs, a Bavarian Mountain Bloodhound "Beya" and wirehaired Dachshund "Kita".

At the age of 6 years Beya had her first litter just four weeks ago. Because of the number of puppies (10!) and her age, whelping was performed by a C-section. Beya and her pups are doing really well, and if you are interested in an excellent prospect for tracking, give Gary a call at 716-648-7417 or e-mail him tracker10253@verizon.net. Pups are available to working homes only!

A big thank you to Gary for excellent pictures showing how a C-section is performed.

A new litter of tracking teckels in Quebec

Our not-so-distant family of wirehaired dachshunds expanded two days ago as Bernard Demer's Foxy whelped a litter of four puppies: three males and one female. The dam of the litter is Foxy du Petit Bois de la Chapelle imported from France (bred by Philippe Rainaud). She is Fiona's sister (Fiona was bred to our Sky 7 weeks ago). The sire is Gunner von Moosbach-Zuzelek (FC Billy von Moosbach-Zuzelek x FC Gilda von Moosbach-Zuzelek), who is our Keena's full-brother, and he is owned by Guy Marcoux-Filion. Foxy and Gunner are serious blood trackers in Quebec, and puppies are going to make excellent tracking prospects.

Two male puppies are available to serious tracking homes. Bernard can be reached at 418-657-0316. His wife speaks English, but if you have problems communicating with Bernard, contact John at john@born-to-track.com.

Below pictures show some of many recoveries by Foxy

Gunner is five years old now, and he came from a very successful breeding of Billy to Gilda. The pictures posted below show Gunner.

Alabama blood tracking dachshund puppies

This picture of Tom Munoz was taken at the 2011 UBT Trackfest in Arkansas. Tom is holding Jack (Joeri/Greta son) and Meg (mom to the current puppies).
Tom and Jackie Munoz's puppies have turned two weeks old. A couple of boys are still available to serious blood tracking homes (see pictures below)! Both parents of the litter are active, accomplished blood trackers.

Dam of the litter, Meg, is a granddaughter of Agata v Moosbach-Zuzelek, and she was sired by Nicki von Velbert, who was imported from Germany. The pups were sired by eight-year-old Fred (Frederick der Trakker Yergz), a full brother to Gail Berger's Pepper. Fred's lines go back to Asko von der Drachenburg, Sabina von Moosbach-Zuzelek, Traelborg's Herbert "Skyder", vom Dornenfeld and Springwood's.

Tom and Jackie Munoz's website is at www.alabamadeertracking.com. They can be contacted at deertrackingdog@gmail.com or 256-426-3199. Pups are in Alabama.

This is how puppies should be raised: Remi is a super dad to his pups

This short video posted by Justin Richins from Utah shows his wirehaired dachshund puppies at the age of five weeks. They are out of Remi (Remy von Moosbach-Zuzelek) and Macaria Raptor. The video shows how good Remi is with his puppies. Not all males are like that! The pups are being raised in a right way, by both parents. And they are fully socialized with Justin's six kids. For more information about these puppies bred for blood tracking contact Justin at 435-655-5484 or justinrichins@gmail.com.

January 2014 dachshund puppies: a new generation of blood trackers

We are only 9 days into January but the New Year has already brought two litters of wirehaired dachshund puppies out of working lines.

1. We were happy to learn that on January 5 Gail Berger's "Bee" (a daughter of our Billy and Gail Berger's Pepper) whelped 6 puppies, 3 girls and 3 boys. Everything went smoothly (this is Bee's first litter), and Bee is a good mother. A sire of this litter is our Tommy (FC Tom vom Linteler-Forst). All the puppies are spoken for.

2. Congratulations to Tom and Jackie Munoz from Alabama on their 5 puppies that were born yesterday (3 boys and 2 girls). Dam of the litter, Meg, is a granddaughter of Agata v Moosbach-Zuzelek. She was sired by Nicki von Velbert (imported from Germany). The pups' sire is eight-year-old Fred (Frederick der Trakker Yergz) bred by Mike Yerger. Fred's background includes our Asko von der Drachenburg, Sabina von Moosbach-Zuzelek, Traelborg's Herbert "Skyder" and vom Dornenfeld line. Tom and Jackie Munoz's website is athttp://www.alabamadeertracking.com/. Good luck with the pups!

Wirehaired teckel puppies out of European hunting lines

It is not easy to get a dachshund puppy bred out of European hunting lines. If you are looking for one, you are in luck as Ed and Barbie Wills from Concord, NH, have a male puppy available. The parents of the 24-day-old puppies are FC Viola von der Hardt-Hohe, JE and FC Bernd vom Ahorn Wald, ME, CGC. This is the third and last time that this breeding has been done.  It has produced very good trackers in the past. Ed and Barbie are hunters and trackers, and they are also members of the United Blood Trackers. Ed was instrumental in legalizing blood tracking in New Hampshire. You can reach Barbie and Ed by e-mail at kmteckels@comcast.net

A new litter of wirehaired dachshunds is born in Iowa

If you are looking for a male puppy, Brian Hibbs from Oxford, IA, might still have one available. His "Scout" FC Chipsy Scout Vom Hessenjaeger SW was bred to FC Vimy Ridge Von Lowenherz and on April 27 whelped 8 puppies, 4 females and 4 males. Brian Hibbs's website is at www.trackingteckels.com,  e-mail brian@trackingteckels.com  and  phone # 319-430-8065.

Brian, it looks to me like some of your pups might be chocolate, the ones with very light coats and pink noses. We had a litter like this many years ago (it was our H litter).

Are you looking for a wirehaired dachshund for blood tracking?

We are in the middle of hunting/tracking season, and now every day we get several inquiries about puppies. Yes, this is when hunters realize that they need a dog, and this is exactly when we don't have time to talk about puppies.

This is what our website says "We are planning two litters of puppies for summer 2013. We will start to take reservations at the beginning of December 2012. Please e-mail us then. Right now we are in the middle of hunting season and extremely busy. Please read about the process of buying a puppy from us, which is posted here."

The other day we got this inquiry: "I have talked to you earlier about buying a wired hair dots an for first a inside pet and secondly a blood tracking dog. I understand you have a questionnaire form to fill out. I would like to fill out this form and get on you list to purchase a female dog. Please feral free to contact me either by email or phone".

I don't want to appear rude because I am not a rude person, but this is not a way to make your first contact with a breeder. Please read on our website how we raise and sell puppies, it is all there www.born-to-track.com . We don't sell pups on the first come first served basis. There is a long selection process involved. A prospective owner has to be serious about blood tracking and committed to track for other people. We put too much work and money to breed tracking/hunting dachshunds to have them go to pet homes where they will track one-two deer a year.

If you have sent us an e-mail about puppies in the last month and have not received a reply, you are not alone. I truly apologize for it, but we have no time to talk to potential buyers now and go through the screening process in the middle of tracking season. Also, if you read our blog, you will know that we have a very sick dog that we care for. We'd appreciate your patience.

Billy and Mae's puppies have arrived: a new generation of deer tracking dachshunds is born

On August 1 Mae (FC Mae von Munterkeit) whelped with ease 7 puppies - 5 males and 2 females. Mae is owned by Deer Search members Beth and Genti Shero from Poughkeepsie, NY, and she is out of three-time winner of Deer Search's blood tracking competition Jessie v Moosbach-Zuzelek. The sire of this litter is our FC Billy von Moosbach-Zuzelek, SchwhK Prize II, Wa.-T, BHP-1, BHP-2, BHP-3.

We wrote about Mae many times on this blog as she is a talented blood tracker certified by Deer Search and a very versatile hunter. She loves to swim, opens freely on rabbits and has plenty of game aggressiveness. We like Mae very much, and this is why we kept Bella, a puppy out of her and Tommy's 2011 litter.

More info about puppies can be accessed click here. Genti Shero can be contacted at (845) 222-3261

Yesterday, on Saturday, Genti, Beth and their daughter Dea visited us, and they brought their very nice eight-week-old pups out of their Mariel and Achilles. We had a lot of fun with them. Sherry Ruggieri, who also is visiting this weekend helped with the evaluation of pups' conformation. Below pictures show Sheros and their puppies.
